Don’t Look Up (2021)

A sadly accurate depiction of the times. The brilliant writing makes it appear like satire, an SNL sketch of sorts, but it is REAL. It is what we have endured and continue to endure with the polarisation and ignorance of society.

There are references aplenty and they make for a shudder down your spine, nervous laugh, head shaking variety. A commentary on the current and future trends and what we as a society tend to focus on needs a lot of attention, which is what the cast is attempting to highlight. Either by their action or wilful delusion.

We have had multiple wake up calls and are in the midst of one currently. But the truth is often harder to digest and address than the ‘alternative facts’. The ensemble cast is superlative in presenting us these perspectives which beg for logic and alarm.

Thoroughly disturbing, eye opening and humbling.

Spider-Man : No Way Home (2021)

Warning: spoilers ahead

I really enjoyed the film, mostly because of the way it was written and weaved in past villains and spidermen. I loved the social commentary of heal/cure vs. kill. I felt it relevant to the covid world we live in and how much we continue struggle with it.

The acting is decent across the board, with a few light and emotional moments to pepper the action scenes and top quality special effects. The result: a well fleshed out plot with enough bang for your buck.

Comfortable seating or an IMAX experience would be great for it. It is a refreshing exploration of the multiverse and leaves many avenues open and doors to knock on for future franchises.

No time to die (2021)

A long and effective film, with sublime action sequences, sweeping cinematography and a fitting farewell to Daniel Craig.

Rami Malek plays the foreboding villain well, I just wish he had more screen time. The franchise steps out of its usual mould and takes on a fuller, more wholesome approach.

The supporting cast has a great range, leaving an impact even in a limited number of scenes or shots. Watch it for the locales and the stunts which keep you entertained throughout.
