The Good Liar (2019)

Director Bill Condon has two great talents to tell us a story which is seemingly about a liar. Do not be fooled! There is much more than meets the eye!

Sir Ian McKellen and Dame Helen Mirren bring a class act alive on screen about a second shot at love. Very soon we see multiple layers reveal themselves and try and catch the lie and liar.

An interesting film with some fine nuanced moments.

Little Women (2020)

It is so difficult to do justice to a classic and director Greta Gerwig has done just that.

Connecting your emotions to the story and the characters from the first frame, we see a pure and simple bond between the siblings and everything that affects them.

Many highs and lows later the performances remain consistently strong and deep, where we are seen rooting for all of them.

A heart-warming start to the year and a fitting choice for every accolade.

The sky is pink (2019)

One of the best films in 2019, the story of the movie had caught the pulse of the audience from the beginning.

Based on the true life story of Aisha Chaudhary, it chronicles the before, after and the beautiful and challenging in between.

Stellar performances by Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Zaira Wasim and Rohit Saraf, capturing nuances of a real family, talking about things in a candid and meaningful way.

Shonali Bose had her own story to tell through this directorial, handling a sensitive subject beautifully.

A must watch before the year ends.

3.5/5

The Marvelous Mrs Maisel (2017-)

Hilarious writing and pitch perfect acting makes this a must watch series! An ensemble cast that is on their own journey, to make sense of what is happening in their lives and deal with their circumstances.

Recreating the period and fashion effectively, the actors represent any large family going through their various issues. The drama is tinged with comedy and vice versa, making it a riveting watch.

The Gentlemen (2020)

Slick. Bad Ass. Unpredictable. Full of profanity and not just for the sake of it. Twisted.

Excellent ensemble cast which pack powerful punches and leave you with memorable performances. Superb editing. Classic Guy Ritchie direction. Loving all the accents!

Thanks to Village cinemas for the preview show to their members. A highly entertaining and gripping watch!

4/5

The Addams Family (2019)

The beloved series, film and cartoon classic gets its animated reboot with a bunch of funny one-liners and spooky/quirky moments.

The premise is the same, of fitting in, belonging, but being oblivious to the demands of being normal or regular.

You come away with every character evolving and embracing change and not so predictable proceedings. It provides interesting back stories and a fitting end.

2.5/5

Knives Out (2019)

A whodunnit with a twist and a gifted ensemble cast that reveals the dysfunction of the Thrombey family.

While the plot reveals layer upon layer, the audience has a consistent nagging feeling about the real culprit.

Sure enough there is much more than meets the eye as the drama unfolds.

Great performances, art direction, back ground score and well written characters make it an entertaining head scratcher.
